Motorola has announced its Android One smartphone, simply called the Motorola One, is coming to the United States. According to the company, the device is set to launch in the U.S. on November 9th. It’ll be exclusive to Best Buy and will launch in Best Buy stores on November 11th. It’ll cost $399. Preorders are currently live on BestBuy.com.
The Motorola One is a mid-range device (hence its selling price) that comes with one standout feature: its software. Moto includes Android One based on Android 8.1 Oreo which guarantees a clean and bloatware-free experience. It’s also promised updates to both Android Pie and Android Q when it gets released.
Unfortunately, this isn’t a flagship phone which could have made the Motorola One something to consider if you were looking for something high-end. Instead, you get a notch 5.9-inch 1520×720 display, a Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 13MP camera, a 3,000mAh battery, a headphone jack, and a USB-C port. It’s, overall, not a bad package, but there’s still a lot to be desired.
Still, if you want a clean Android experience for $400, the Motorola One should be on your radar. A quick side note: the device only works on GSM carriers, meaning AT&T and T-Mobile. Verizon and Sprint customers will have to look elsewhere.
