Xiaomi today unveiled the new Mi Mix 3 smartphone, a successor to last year’s Mi Mix 2 which built on top of the original Mi Mix which is known as one of the first mainstream bezel-less smartphones to ever hit the market. For version 3, the company is focusing on a similar design with nearly no bezels surrounding the display and flagship specs under the hood.
Obviously, though, the biggest draw to the Mi Mix 3 is its display. The OLED panel onboard measures in a 6.4-inches and features a 1080p resolution. Xiaomi says the device offers a 93.4 percent screen-to-body ratio which is, to say the least, insane.
There’s also no notch, but the company avoids a large chin to house the front-facing cameras by implementing the sensors into a sliding piece mounted to the back of the phone. This way, when you need your selfie camera, you can simply slide them into view manually. It isn’t controlled by a motor like the Oppo Find X, but Xiaomi’s method should last a bit longer since you have less moving parts.
As for specs, the Mi Mix 3 comes with a Snapdragon 845 processor, as much as up to 10GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, dual 12MP rear cameras, dual front-facing cameras with depth sensing, a fingerprint scanner, facial recognition, 10W Qi wireless charging, a 4,000mAh battery, and Xiaomi’s skin on top of Android.
According to Xiaomi, the Mi Mix 3 will launch on November 1st in China. It’ll start at 3,299 yan (about $475) and go up to 4,999 yuan (roughly $720) for the “Forbidden City Palace Museum” edition with 10GB of RAM.
