Historically, OnePlus has stuck with supporting GSM-only networks with its devices. That means the OnePlus 6, 5T, and every device before it worked only on AT&T and T-Mobile. The company looks to shift things up, however, with its new smartphone which will debut on October 30th at an event in New York.
According to PCMag, the new OnePlus 6T will support LTE Band 13, therefore granting compatibility with Verizon’s CDMA-based network. While the report does say the phone “might” support the band, the publication cites industry sources who suggest the addition will be made.
Notably, having LTE Band 13 on the 6T would be a really good thing since a good chunk of wireless customers are on Verizon. However, this would also mean only LTE connectivity will work with Big Red. That means if an area only supports 4G or something worse, there’s a good chance the 6T won’t get any signal. Of course, you’ll want to take this speculation with a grain of salt since nothing’s confirmed just yet, but at least Verizon support is rumored for the time being.
