After a ton of leaks and rumors surfaced about the device, Google finally unveiled the Pixel 3 XL this week. But one design choice many in the Android community dislike is the inclusion of such a large notch at the top of the display. Whether you like it or not, it seems that Google felt obligated in a way to include the “feature” many companies are loading their phones up with nowadays. Fortunately, if you want a Pixel 3 XL but hate the notch, there’s a workaround.

On the Pixel 3 XL, dig into Developer options by tapping your device’s software build number seven times. Afterward, you should find settings for displaying the notch with the option to fully disable it. When disabled, the left and right sides of the notch are completely blacked out and emulate that of a rather large top bezel. In a way, the device more resembles the smaller Pixel 3 or last year’s Pixel 2 XL.

Of course, in the future, we expect Google to add a more user-friendly way to hide the notch on the Pixel 3 XL. But in case you were concerned, at least there’s a way to do it now.
