Nokia’s been unveiling a good amount of phones ever since its revival back in 2017, and now, the company has yet another entry in its mid-range lineup of handsets that’s headed to the U.S. and U.K. Called the Nokia 7.1, the device adopts modern design language while packing mid-range specs in a package that costs just $349.
For starters, the 7.1 comes with a 5.84-inch IPS LCD display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2244×1080. Yes, it has a notch at the top, but it isn’t extra tall or wide. Unfortunately, the bottom bezel has both of those design flaws, but how much can you really expect from a phone costing less than $400?
As for specs, the 7.1 packs a Snapdragon 636 processor, 3 to 4GB of RAM, 32 to 64GB of storage, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot, a 3,060mAh battery, and a fingerprint reader on the back. The device includes dual cameras on the back with a main 12MP sensor and a secondary 5MP lens, while the overall experience of the phone is powered by Android Oreo. The 7.1’s also a part of Google’s Android One program which guarantees two years worth of software updates, with Android Pie and all its goodies making its way to the phone in the near future.
Overall, the phone looks pretty good for the price. Nokia says it’ll cost $349 in the States and ship with 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. Meanwhile, European markets will get the phone in two configurations: 3GB RAM/32GB storage and 4GB RAM/64GB storage. It’ll be priced at 349 Euros and 400 Euros, respectively. The device will launch on October 28th.
