Apple Will Reportedly Introduce New AirPods, Over-Ear Headphones, and an Updated HomePod in 2019

A new report out of Bloomberg claims Apple is gearing up to launch not one, but two new sets of headphones alongside an updated HomePod. The report suggests all three new products will land in 2019, with two potentially launching in the first half of next year.

As for what the products are, AirPods are reportedly getting a new “pro” version with better noise cancellation and added water resistance. The new earbuds could also come with health features like a heart rate sensor to further the company’s reach in the health market. They’ll likely cost more than the current $159 AirPods. Meanwhile, this year will see the launch of slightly updated AirPods with “Hey Siri” compatibility.

Apple will also reportedly soon launch its own set of over-the-ear headphones. According to Bloomberg, the company will use its own branding and not Beats. The cans will offer premium audio quality and be priced to compete with companies like Bose and Sennheiser. It remains a mystery as to how good these headphones will sound or what they might look like, but we’ll probably know more in the coming months.

In addition, Apple will also be updating the HomePod sometime next year. Things remain extremely unclear as to what new features or changes we can expect, but we could see something like a lower price point which would certainly make the device more appealing than it is now. If anything, Apple is said to begin balancing out production of the HomePod and AirPods between Inventec and Foxconn to produce more inventory.

We’ll likely have more information to share on this subject in the near future so stay tuned.
