Amazon today announced its adding two more phones to its ever-growing lineup of Prime-exclusive smartphones. The mid-range Moto G6 Play, originally unveiled in February, will make its way to the portfolio for $189, a $10 discount from its original $199 price tag. Meanwhile, the Z3 Play which was just unveiled earlier this month will cost $449, $50 less than its original $499 cost. Both will launch formally on June 29th, while pre-orders are now live for both devices.
If you aren’t familiar, Amazon’s Prime-exclusive Android phone lineup has historically offered devices for cheaper prices than what you’d normally pay at other retailers. To reach the lower costs, the company originally put ads on the lock screen and notification shade. They would also load its suite of Android apps onto the devices for ease of access to Amazon’s various services. Now, however, only the apps are present, making for a better experience using the phones. Of course, prices are a bit higher than they used to be with the ads all over the place, but the discounts in question are still pretty decent regardless.
