Motorola is expected to unveil its lineup of Z-branded smartphones in the near future, and today we’re getting a glimpse at the lower-end model of the group. Via Evan Blass on Twitter, we have our first look at what the upcoming Moto Z3 Play might look like.

In the image, you can clearly tell the device is a Motorola phone thanks to the batwing logo and Moto Mod connectors on the back. While the overall design of the phone doesn’t appear to be too different from what we saw last year, the display is clearly getting a major upgrade. According to rumors the panel will measure 6-inches and feature a Full HD+ resolution with an 18:9 aspect ratio, a big step up from the current 5.5-inch 16:9 Full HD screen found on the Z2 Play.
With the bezels being diminished on this device, so is another part: the headphone jack. We’ve seen the port on both the Z Play and Z2 Play, but it looks like the Z3 Play will bring the death of the 3.5mm slot. Luckily, there is a USB-C port for fast charging and connecting 3.5mm headphones.
You’ll also notice dual cameras on the back. This would mark the first time the Z Play series adopted the feature and the second time a Moto Z smartphone made the implementation (the Z2 Force was first, in case you were wondering). NO word on what resolutions the cameras will be, but rumors point to a 12MP main shooter and secondary 8MP lens.
There’s also an indentation on the side of the Z3 Play that’s likely the fingerprint reader. Considering there’s no room on the front of the device any more thanks to the larger screen, Motorola will probably use the side of the phone to house the biometric log-in method. Additionally, there’s a button on the left side of the phone that, to our best guess, is probably the power button.
Finally, the entire body of the Z3 Play appears to be made of glass. Rumors pointed to this design decision in the past, and if the glair from the render is of any indication, the rumors were right.
As for the rest of the Z3 Play, we’re hearing it may pack a Snapdragon 636 processor with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The Z Play line is famous for having big batteries and excellent longevity on a full charge, but we don’t have any insight into this department just yet.
The Moto Z3 Play is expected to be unveiled this June. Until then, stay tuned for more regarding Moto’s upcoming mid-ranger.
