LG has famously said they’ll release a phone when they darn well feel like it, and it looks like that specific time could be this June. According to VentureBeat, the company’s 2018 flagship smartphone could be announced this summer and released soon after. Details surrounding the phone were also spoken of in today’s rumor.
According to the report, the mystery LG handset will come with a Snapdragon 845 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. It’ll also come with a 6.1-inch 18:9 screen, but it’ll use something called MLCD+ instead of a standard LCD or OLED panel. Falling in the LCD family, MLCD+ uses an RGBW matrix that uses a white sub-pixel which allows for 800 nits of brightness. This level of brightness isn’t commonly found in LCDs so it should be interesting to see this display in action.
Also arriving on the new LG phone are dual 16MP f/1.6 cameras, water and dust resistance, “boombox” stereo speakers, HDR10, wireless charging, and LG’s camera AI efforts that will make their way into the new 2018 V30. Finally, the phone will also sport an all-new design. Let’s hope the same can be said about LG’s software, amirite?
We’re still a good four months away from June, so we’ve got some time for more rumors to swirl surrounding LG’s next phone. Stay tuned.
