Essential has announced three new colors for its smartphone, following a teaser of one of them that was released recently. Unsurprisingly, Ocean Depths is the first new color in the lineup, but so are two unexpected finishes that are equally as nice.
Starting with the first variant, Ocean Depths features a teal ceramic backing and a golden-colored rail around the phone. Next up, Stellar Gray is basically a less-shiny black finish in which it features a matte finish on the back for a better grip. Finally, the Copper Black has an ultra-glossy finish on the rear and copper rails. All in all, each of these colors seems pretty classy and sophisticated. Essential says they’re “on trend,” if you were concerned.
By the way, these are all limited edition. Unfortunately, Essential says it’s harder to produce different colored ceramic finishes than to produce different colors of other materials like plastic. Therefore, there’ll only be a limited supply of these finishes and they’ll cost $100 more than the standard black or white Essential Phone, or $599.
Still, it’s not a bad price to pay for a phone with a 5.7-inch edge-to-edge screen, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, Android Nougat for now and Android Oreo later, and dual rear cameras. Essential says the Ocean Depths color will go on sale today, the STellar Gray will land on February 20th, and Copper Black will arrive on February 22nd.
