Samsung Might Include 3D Emoji and Stereo Speakers with the Galaxy S9

Samsung’s launch date for the Galaxy S9 is fast approaching, and therefore more rumors are hitting the mill hard and fast. A new report out of ETNews claims to shed light on two new features of the upcoming device: 3D emoji and stereo speakers.

Regarding the former, the S9 will reportedly compete with Apple’s Animoji and provide its own 3D-animated emoji that mimic your facial movements. This wouldn’t come as a surprise since Samsung’s newest Exynos chipset claims to be better at face tracking and recognition. It also doesn’t come as a shock that Samsung is building yet another feature that will compete with its biggest competitor in the smartphone market. Whether Samsung’s 3D emoji will be any good remains to be seen, but it’ll probably be pretty good since today’s report claims it’ll be more advanced than Apple’s.

As for the latter, Samsung’s Galaxy S9 will reportedly come with stereo speakers, a major step up from the single bottom-firing speaker on the S8. ETNews claims the speakers will be on the top and bottom of the device, and I have a feeling this means the earpiece and a bottom-firing output will be used in order to retain slim bezels. And while we don’t know how good they’ll sound just yet, anything’s better than what the S8 currently spits out which, by the way, isn’t much.

The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are already rumored to ship with a Snapdragon 845 processor, dual cameras on the latter, 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch screens, redesigned fingerprint readers, and headphone jacks. More information surrounding the devices should make its way to the web soon since we’re currently less than two weeks away from seeing the phones officially.
