Apple’s Next-Gen iPhone SE Might Not Be What You Think

Apple’s rumored to refresh its iPhone SE smartphone this year according to previous reports. But as noted in a new report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via MacRumors), the company might not be aiming for quite the change everyone’s been expecting.

Instead of giving the device wireless charging, a glass back, and other upgrades, Kuo notes Apple may just stick with a processor bump to something a bit newer. The reason for this is due to the company reportedly not having enough design resources to make a fourth iPhone for 2018 since they’re already rumored to be making three iPhone X-esque phones come September. Because of this, the SE likely won’t see a major upgrade this year.

Whether we’ll ever see the device ditch the iPhone 5 design it was blessed/cursed with back in 2015 is unclear, but at least for now, expect the same phone that’s available now to ship with possibly a new processor by the end of the year.
