Google I/O 2018 Scheduled for May 8-10

Google has announced through a series of puzzles its I/O 2018 developers conference will be held this May 8th to the 10th. It’ll be held at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. The company made an effort to hide the dates and location from the public and reveal them only to those who enjoy solving puzzles. Literal puzzles.

Over on the I/O 2018 website, there’s this Google Street View that takes you to a Google developers building. Upon entering, there’s a bunch of things involving sisters and then an upside-down pineapple cake shows up. Many believe this hint may be referencing the name of the company’s next Android release, Android P. Whether Android Pineapple will ever see the light of day has yet to be seen, but it’s a bit early to make any predictions.

At the end of all this mumbo-jumbo, you get the dates for I/O. It’s a complicated way of revealing secrets to the public, but hey, it’s Google. We’ve come to expect these things.

What else can we expect from Google particularly during I/O, you may ask? Right now, things remain very unclear, although it’s easy to say we’ll no doubt hear about Android P and the Google Assistant. We’ll also get new betas of Android P to test on Pixel phones, while an initial release of the beta should arrive sometime next month if history is any indication. Be sure to stay tuned to Matridox as we’ll be bringing you coverage of all I/O endeavors.
