Lenovo Introduces ARM-Based Miix 630 with Snapdragon 835 and Windows 10 S

Today at CES 2018, Lenovo unveiled its new Miix 630, a successor to previous Miix devices and stands as the first 2-in-1 PC from the company to pack a Snapdragon 835 ARM-based processor. We previously saw devices from HP and Asus that packed the mobile processor for better battery life, LTE connectivity, and consistent performance. Now, Lenovo is jumping on the bandwagon with its latest tablet/laptop hybrid.

The Miix 630 looks nearly identical to past Miix devices with a kickstand on the back, a backlit keyboard which is detachable, and a Lenovo-branded stylus for drawing and more precise interactions. Really, it’s what’s on the inside that matters. It packs, as previously mentioned, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor with 4 or 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, and the Adreno 540 integrated GPU. It sounds an awful lot like a smartphone, and that seems to be Lenovo’s goal here. They want to provide an always-connected experience similar to your phone but in a more productivity-focused package.

Integrated 4G LTE connectivity can give you an always-connected experience so you can sit down wherever you want and start working. According to Lenovo, you can also expect up to 20 hours of battery life from this device which, while sounding outrageous, could be true if you play your cards right day-to-day.

Additionally, the device comes with a 12.3-inch 1920×1280 touchscreen covered in Gorilla Glass, Bluetooth 4.1, front and rear cameras, integrated speakers, a USB-C port, an SD card reader, a headphone jack, and dual microphones. The device also ships with Windows 10 S preinstalled for a smoother and more secure experience, but you can upgrade to Windows 10 Pro for free within six months of you setting up the device.

The Miix 630 will go on sale in the second quarter of 2018 for $799. Both the keyboard and pen will come in the box. Select local carriers will support LTE connectivity so you’ll wanna check with yours before buying.
