Ahead of CES where we usually see these laptops, Samsung has announced its refreshed the Notebook 9 series of convertibles with spec bumps in nearly every area. The first laptop we’re seeing that’s been upgraded is the Samsung Notebook 9 Pen which includes a 2-in-1 form factor and integrated S Pen. It includes 8th-generation Intel Core i7 processors, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, intel HD Graphics, a USB-C port, a USB 3.0 port, an HDMI output port, and a body made of aluminum that weighs just 2.2 pounds.
The most unfortunate part of the Notebook 9 Pen is the display. It measures in a 13.3-inches, but it only supports a 1080p resolution. There’s no 4K resolution option here, and the same can be said about the 13.3- and 15-inch Notebook 9 models.
Speaking of which, the new Notebook 9 PCs include similar specs with 8th-gen Intel Core i7 processors and 16GB of RAM, but you can also upgrade your laptop with up to 1TB of SSD storage and even opt for an Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics card in the larger model. They also include the “largest and most powerful battery” Samsung has ever placed in a notebook, weighing in at 75 Wh. There’s support for fast charging to top your PC up quickly, and Samsung says there’s “always-on power” thanks to the Hexacell battery on board.
Additionally, there’s two USB 3.0 ports, a USB-C port, an HDMI port, and a microSD card slot on both models, while the 15-inch variant gains another USB 2.0 port.
Pricing and availability haven’t been announced yet, but we expect to know more come next month at CES. Stay tuned.
