Netflix today is updating its Comcast Xfinity X1 application to support 4K streaming of its content. Now, those with compatible hardware and software can watch content like Stranger Things, Narcos, Orange is the New Black, and The Crown in 4K UHD. Comcast says the experience searching for and watching 4K content on Netflix is seamless once all the requirements are met.
Speaking of which, in order to watch 4K Netflix on your TV, you’ll need to be subscribed to Netflix’s Premium tier and have a 4K-compatible TV. Netflix recommends having at least a 25Mbps internet connection in order to ensure stability while watching content, while Comcast says Xfinity subscribers will need the XG1v4 set top box to stream. Afterward, you’ll be able to see the over 1200 hours of 4K content available on Netflix directly on your television set.
“We remain focused on providing our customers high-quality entertainment experiences across platforms, which includes easy access to the best 4K programming,” said Brynn Lev, Vice President, Editorial and Programming, Content Strategy and Operations, Comcast Cable. “We are thrilled to make the popular Netflix catalog of 4K programming available to X1 customers and will continue to rapidly expand the UHD programming choices available on the platform.”
