Apple today seeded the very first beta of iOS 11.2 to testers for debugging on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This means the 11.1 beta process has ended, even though the release has yet to reach the public. To install the new build on your registered device, head over to Settings > General > Software Update. Tap “Download and install” next to the iOS 11.2 beta listing and you’ll be good to go. I recommend jumping on a Wi-Fi network first alongside plugging in your device beforehand as a) you don’t want data overcharges on your bill and b) you don’t want your phone or tablet to die during the installation process.
In iOS 11.2, Apple is including the same wallpapers found on the new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus on older models such as the 7 and 7 Plus while also squashing some bugs here and there. We’ll let you know if we find anything else worth noting.
iOS 11 packs a revamped Control Center, redesigned notifications, improvements to Siri including an all-new voice, Do Not Disturb While Driving, and an all-new interface for the iPad with better productivity features, a macOS-style Dock, and a new multitasking view. There’s even an official Files app for all iOS devices that lets you access files stored on your device without having to hunt down a third-party service to do so.
