Microsoft has revealed more details about the first Cortana speaker to hit the market. Called the Harman Kardon Invoke, the speaker will ship in Pearl Silver and Graphite for $199.95. It’ll land at the Microsoft Store, Best Buy, and HarmanKardon.com starting October 22.
This all comes after the speaker was unveiled back in May. For those unfamiliar, the Harman Kardon Invoke ships with three direct-radiating woofers, three direct-radiating tweetrs, and two passive radiators for 360-degree sound. Far-field microphones let users invoke Cortana from anywhere in the room and even let you make hands-free calls to your Skype and phone contacts. Of course, all the normal Cortana stuff like setting reminders, playing music, and checking the weather is also possible alongside controlling smart home accessories.
The $199 Invoke goes up directly against the new Amazon Echo and Google Home which each cost $100 less. Whether users are willing to spend a premium simply for Cortana access is unclear, but I suppose we’ll learn after this Sunday.
