Belkin’s New Adapter Lets You Charge and Listen to Music on Your iPhone X

Belkin today announced a new adapter built for the new iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X and is compatible with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Called the 3.5 mm Audio + Charge RockStar adapter, it does what its name says: it lets you charge your iPhone and use 3.5mm headphones to listen to music. This solves the problem with Apple’s recent iPhones which, unfortunately, have been forbidden a traditional jack out of “courage” and no longer allows users to charge their phone while jamming out. Y’know, unless you opt for wireless charging.

But here’s the thing: this dongle costs $35. For just a headphone jack to Lightning adapter, Apple charges $9. For one with both a headphone jack and Lightning port, it costs $26 more. Why you may ask? I’m gonna assume there’s some serious logic inside the adapter itself to separate the charging and audio channels, but I’m not entirely sure. Nevertheless, I assume anyone who absolutely needs to listen to music while charging over Lightning will spend the money to get this thing.

Belkin is selling the adapter in Apple stores, on Apple’s website, and on their own.
