ZTE today announced its latest smartphone, the Tempo X. Exclusive to Boost Mobile, the handset costs $80 and runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat. But other than these two factors, there’s really nothing special about it. Just look at this spec sheet.
- 5-inch FWVGA (854×480) display
- 1.1GHz quad-core processor
- 1GB RAM
- 8GB storage (with microSD card expansion up to a wimpy 32GB)
- 5MP rear camera, 2MP selfie camera
- 2200mAh battery
This all comes in a likely cheap-feeling body, and this is a shame. For less than $100 nowadays, we’re seeing fingerprint sensors, large HD screens, 2 or 3GB of RAM, at least 32GB of storage, and much larger batteries and better cameras. I actually just reviewed ZTE’s other budget offering, the Blade X Max, and was thoroughly impressed it only cost $99. Therefore, if you absolutely need a Boost Mobile phone, you’ll likely wanna steer clear of this device.
