Google’s Pixel 2 and 2 XL Leak, Cost $649 and $849

Droid-Life has published pictures of what they claim are the new Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL (yup, that’s its name – don’t wear it out). The renders below depict the devices in their new color options. The Pixel 2 will reportedly arrive in “Just Black,” “Clearly White,” and “Kinda Blue” while the 2 XL ships in “Just Black” and “Black & White.”

Besides the bezel-less form factor we’re assuming will be on the Pixel 2 XL, one concrete way of identifying a Pixel 2 from a 2 XL is by looking at the back. If the camera sensor is to the right of the LED flash, it’s a Pixel 2. Similarly, if the sensor is to the left of the flash, it’s a Pixel 2 XL. Of course, the overall size of each handset will also help, but if you can only see the devices from the back, this is a characteristic to look out for.

While no new spec details were leaked in today’s surfacings, we do know the new Pixels’ prices. For the Pixel 2 with 64GB of storage, we’re looking at $649 and $749 for 128GB of room. AS for the Pixel 2 XL, this is where things get pricey. The baseline 64GB Pixel 2 XL will cost $849 while the 128GB model brings things up to a whopping $949. This is on par with the 256GB iPhone 8 Plus which launches Friday. I guess you’ll need to really want a Pixel 2 XL with double the storage to spend this kind of dough.

The Pixel 2 and 2 XL are expected to ship with a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 12MP cameras, and (hopefully) larger batteries than last year. They’ll also come with Android Oreo out of the box. Regarding the Pixel 2, we’re expecting an OLED 5-inch 1080p display with stereo speakers on the top and bottom, while the Pixel 2 XL will have an OLED 6-inch bezel-less screen similar to what’s on the LG V30. Additionally, HTC will manufacture the former while LG takes care of the latter. Both devices will debut at Google’s upcoming October 4th event.
