After originally introducing the offer at a 50% discount, Sprint has updated its iPhone 8 special by offering the device for $0 and $0/month as long as you trade in your current smartphone. This includes the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Plus, and Note 8. By opting into the offer, you’ll need to stick with Sprint for 18 months. After that, you can either trade in the phone for a new one or pay $29.17/month for the next six months to own the device. Of course, with every good offer comes at least one caveat, and this one might hurt you.
You’ll need to be a new Sprint customer to get a free iPhone 8.
Unfortunately, current Sprint customers can’t get a free iPhone 8. Only those who sign up for Sprint and activate a new line are eligible. If you fall into this category and have opted for the 50% discount, you’ll be upgraded to the free discount. Those who opted for the 50% discount and are already Sprint customers won’t notice a difference.
Obviously, with the buzz surrounding the new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, Sprint is trying to lure some folks over to their network and appear more pleasing than its competitors AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Whether a free iPhone on the fourth biggest network in the US means anything to you is your decision to make, but for most folks, you may wanna stick with whatever you’re already getting from other carriers.
