Xiaomi and Google have announced a new smartphone running the latter’s Android One operating system which aims to provide a clean and safe Android experience in other regions around the globe. Called the Mi A1, the device has what we’d call mid-range specs here in the States, but is relatively high-end for a device running the lightweight OS.
For reference, here’s a complete rundown of the Mi A1’s specs.

- Dual 12MP cameras (one wide-angle, one telephoto for bokeh shots)

Clearly, this spec list is pretty impressive for an Android One device. And it should offer a pretty great experience since it’s using a lightweight version of Android that’s clean and only packs some Mi-branded applications from Xiaomi. Google is basically totallly in control when it comes to Android One device, and if the Pixels tell you anything, it’s taht Google knows what they’re doing.
More than 40 markets will get the Mi A1 when it launches, including India, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Hungary, Russia, Egypt, South Africa, Mexico, and more. It’ll cost 14,999 rupees (roughly $235) which really isn’t bad for a phone with 4GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 625, and 64GB of storage, not to mention the dual cameras and clean software.
