Google has announced at IFA 2017 that the Assistant is coming to more devices rather just smartphones and the Google Home. Specifically, it’s coming to a line of upcoming third-party home speakers like the TicHome Mini by Mobvoi, the GA10 by Panasonic, and, most notably, the Aker Zolo Mojo. While little information is given on any of these speakers, the Mojo will feature a 5-watt speaker and two microphones with support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity, and Google Cast Audio. It’ll be priced at $70 when it goes on sale this October.
Not only are we seeing more speakers, but the Google Assistant is also coming to appliances. Most notably, LG will be building the Assistant into its washers, dryers, vacuums, and more so you can say things like, “Ok Google, are my clothes clean?” and “Ok Google, start vacuuming.” So basically, Google wants to rule your home like Amazon and Alexa do by building its AI into everything. I wouldn’t be surprised to see your fridge or coffee table start talking to you in the near future.
Google says the speakers in question should be coming to the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, and France. The company notes that since IFA 2017 is just kicking off, more speakers and devices with the Assistant on board will be announced. In a nutshell, stay tuned because there’s more to come.
