Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 Has the Brightest Display on a Smartphone

Samsung’s recently debuted Galaxy Note 8 has set a record amongst smartphones. According to DisplayMate who performed a test with the handset, the South Korean giant’s follow-up to last year’s explosive Galaxy Note 7 has the brightest display ever on a smartphone. Specifically, at peak brightness, the Note 8 can reach over 1200 nits. This is in comparison to what a Galaxy S8 offers at 1000 nits and an iPhone 7 which seems puny at 625 nits.

What does this mean for you, the average user? Basically, the Note 8 will be the easiest smartphone to look at in direct sunlight. You won’t have to worry about cranking up the brightness toggle (as long as you have Auto Brightness on, that is) and in practically any given condition, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to see the display to its fullest potential. The screen also performed well in various other tests including color accuracy and sharpness which you can see here.

The Galaxy Note 8 sports a 6.3-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display, a Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB of RAM, Android 7.1 Nougat, a 3300mAh battery, a waterproof S Pen, dual rear cameras, and an all-glass enclosure.
