Google’s sequels to last year’s Pixel and Pixel XL have been part of a surge in smartphone rumors as of late. We’ve heard plenty about the LG V30, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, and now the Pixel 2 (or so it’s being referenced as). Now, Evan Blass of VentureBeat has leaked a photo of what he claims is the smaller Pixel 2 being manufactured by HTC.

As you can see, the phone won’t be going the bezel-less display route its big brother, the Pixel 2 XL, will be. Instead, the Pixel 2 will keep the chunky bezels from the first generation and implement stereo speakers for a better media consumption experience. A glass window sits at the top of the back of the device housing the camera sensor and LED flash, while the fingerprint scanner sits directly below.
VentureBeat claims the Pixel 2 will indeed have squeezable sides much like the HTC U11 does. This makes sense since HTC will be manufacturing this phone anyhow and they already have the components necessary.
Blass goes on to mention that VB can “confidently report” the new Pixel won’t have a 3.5mm headphone jack, much like the iPhone 7 and Moto Z2 Force. Why this is so is beyond me, but I guess they simply wanna push the wireless headphone standard even further with their line of phones.
While today’s report doesn’t mention anything further regarding the upcoming Pixel, rumored specs include a Snapdragon 835 processor and 4GB of RAM. It’s also said the phones will likely sport 64GB of storage, although this rumor seems rather sketchy at this point. We still have two months ahead of us before the Pixels go official so stay tuned.
