Google’s Pixel XL for 2017 has officially leaked. Via Android Police who has obtained a render of the device, we’re now getting our first look at what the search giant may have in store for this coming October.
As for specifics regarding the hardware, the 2017 Google Pixel XL, as it’s called in today’s report, features minimal bezels similar to what the Galaxy S8 and LG G6 feature. It reportedly sports a 6-inch 18:9 display with an AMOLED panel. There’s also a pretty large earpiece at the top alongside a front-facing camera to the left of the top bezel.
On the back, it looks like Google will be shrinking the size of the 2017 XL’s glass window to simply house the rear camera and LED flash. The fingerprint sensor now sits below this glass panel, while the Google “G” logo remains near the bottom of the phone.
One oddball feature of the 2017 XL is reportedly a squeezable frame. According to AP, the new Pixel might be able to activate shortcuts if you squeeze the device’s sides, similar to that of the HTC U11. This rumor seems a bit far-fetched, but who knows?
Overall, today’s leak seems to reveal a similar look to last year’s Pixel and Pixel XL, like it should. I’ve been staring at this render for ten minutes now, so I really hope it comes to life this fall. If it doesn’t, I’ll probably be a little mad.
