Snapchat Adds New Link Sharing, Backdrops, Voice Filters, and More in New Update

Snapchat today updated both its iOS and Android apps with a list of new features. The full changelog can be found below.

For starters, you can tap on a paperclip icon to link a website address to your Snap. Advertisers and brands could already do this, but the feature is now available to all regular users of the app.

A new scissors icon allows for users to cut out a portion of their Snap to add a Backdrop as a background. New Backdrops will arrive every day.

Remix lets users record their voice over video and remix it with different filters and effects. It’s like using a Snapchat filter with voice alterations, minus the AR-powered mask.

Finally, custom geofilters can now be made directly from within the app. These filters will cost you $5.99 but will let anyone in your location use the filter for, say, a special event like a wedding or birthday.

Your move, Instagram.
