As is the case with many awesome features in major updates to Windows 10, Timeline has been shelved and won’t ship this fall with the Fall Creators Update. If you aren’t already aware, Timeline essentially allows users to pick up in apps where they left off across various devices, including on Windows 10, Android, and iOS. Now, according to Joe Belfiore on Twitter in response to a statement shared by The Verge‘s Tom Warren, the feature won’t be ready in time for this fall’s major update.
Correct. Timeline won’t be in the Fall Creators Update. We’re planning for it to be in early insider builds shortly after FCU is out.

Fortunately, it looks like the cloud clipboard feature will still be shipping with the update alongside “cloud files” which is likely Files On-Demand, but it nevertheless stinks that Timeline won’t be shipping when it was expected to.
After the Fall Creators Update rolls out, early Insider previews will gain Timeline as a part of the next wave of Windows 10 updates. I suppose it just needs more time to grow. After all, that would explain its absence in current Fall Creators Update Insider builds.
