Over on Reddit yesterday during an ask-me-anything session, Bob C., a member of the OxygenOS product team, confirmed that OnePlus would deliver Android O to last year’s OnePlus 3 and 3T by the end of 2017. Specifically, he stated the update would be delivered “within the year,” but regardless, those who are sticking with their 2016 flagship killers can expect a major software update before the year is through.
Notably, the OnePlus 3 and 3T were also promised Android Nougat before the end of 2016. And right in the nick of time, OnePlus delivered on their vow on December 31st. This signals we may not see Android O reach these handsets until New Year’s Eve, but I guess it’s better to see the update at some point than not at all.
And considering the OnePlus 3 and 3T, two phones that are nearly each a year old at this point, will see O by the end of 2017, doesn’t that mean the OnePlus 5 will also get updated? I’m just saying this phone is much newer so it would make sense to see this Android Nougat-running flagship get upgraded alongside its predecessors, right?
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
