According to sources familiar with the matter, Samsung is expected to launch Bixby Voice as soon as tomorrow, June 28th, in North America. The sources were extremely confident in tomorrow’s date as the set time for when Samsung would finally begin rolling out the voice assistant on the Galaxy S8 and S8+. However, they did note we may still have a few day’s wait ahead of us. Regardless, Samsung will release the feature by the end of this month.
Samsung was expected to launch Bixby Voice alongside the Galaxy S8 and S8+ last April, but the company had to formally announce the feature would be delayed until Spring 2017 due to it not being ready to roll out just yet. This launch point was never met, unfortunately, and the company once again delayed Bixby Voice another month, via a WSJ report. Now, we have confirmation that after a short beta period, the voice assistant that will be able to perform any action on your phone that normally requires touch input will finally begin rolling out to everyone in North America with S8 and S8+ smartphones.
Despite our sources being a bit overly confident in this news, we went further and confirmed via a Samsung agent that Bixby Voice will indeed launch in North America this week. The person wouldn’t disclose for sure whether the feature would launch tomorrow, but the agent did say it would land before the July 1st date arrives. “I’m not 100% sure on a launch tomorrow,” the agent said, “but it will launch before the end of the month.”
All users of Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones can expect Bixby Voice on their devices this week, regardless whether they’ve signed up for the beta program or not.
