Amazon today announced the additions of new mid-range Android smartphones they’re adding to their Prime Exclusive program that puts ads on devices’ lock screens and, in favor, gives you up to a $50 discount. It’s a pretty nice deal if you can get by with ads in your notification tray and every time you turn your phone one.
For starters, the Nokia 6, a phone that was confirmed to arrive in the U.S. just yesterday through Amazon, retails for just $179.99 instead of its normal $229.99 price point. It sports a 5.5-inch FHD display, a Snapdragon 430 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of RAM, near stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat, a fingerprint scanner, and a 16MP rear camera. It’ll be available starting July 10th.
The new Alcatel Idol 5S is the successor to last year’s Idol 4S and features a metal body, a 5.2-inch FHD display, a Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of RAM, a 12MP rear camera, Android 7.1 Nougat, and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It’ll retail for $199.99 which is down from $279.99 and will go on sale July 10th as well.
Two additional phones from Alcatel will also hit Amazon’s Prime Exclusive library, specifically the A50 and A30 Plus. The former has a 5.2-inch display, a 13MP camera, Android 7, a 1.5GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. The latter has a 5.5-inch display, a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, Android 7, 16GB of storage, and a 13MP camera. Respectively, the two phones will retail for $99.99 and $79.99, down from $149.99 and $129.99. Each will hit shelves July 10th.
Finally, the recently released Moto E4 will land on July 10th as well and retail for $99.99, down from its original $129.99 price. It features a 5-inch 720p display, a Snapdragon 425 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 2,800mAh battery, an 8MP rear camera, and near-stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat. We’re currently reviewing this smartphone and will get back to you with more extensive results, but during our initial testing, we’ve been impressed with this handset. And even more so now that it’ll only cost $99.99 from Amazon.
As for carrier support, the Nokia 6 will work with AT&T and T-Mobile only, the Idol 5S will work on all four major carriers later this summer, the A50 works on only AT&T and T-Mobile, the A30 Plus is the same case but Verizon will also support it later on, and the Moto E4 works everywhere out of the box.
