Google and Samsung have a bit of history concerning Play Music and the Galaxy S8. The app famously became the default music player that came preinstalled on the S8 and S8+, and now it looks like Google is giving the device an exclusive feature (via Android Authority): New Release Radio.
Essentially New Release Radar is a radio station consisting of only new tracks that have recently dropped (think Spotify’s Release Radar). It’s personalized based on music you’ve previously listened to and liked, while it also gets updated daily so you always have something new to listen to. Whether this feature will attract more users to buy an S8 is unclear, but it seems pretty doubtful since you can get a similar experience with other services like Spotify and Apple Music.
Android Authority notes it’s unclear whether this feature will remain exclusive to the S8 and S8+, but considering this feature is present on Android, it’ll probably reach everyone else at some point in the near future. We received the feature on our S8 here in the office, but it’s currently not working properly, therefore indicating this feature is still taking time to roll out.
