Microsoft Brings Backward Compatibility to Classic Xbox Games

Last year during E3, Microsoft announced backward compatibility for Xbox 360 games so they’d work with the Xbox One console. This year during the very same conference, the company has announced the same feature, but for games that worked with the original Xbox.

In a nutshell, Microsoft is bringing backward compatibility to classic Xbox games so they’ll work on the Xbox One, One S, and the new One X. The company says they’ll be given speed and performance enhancements thanks to the updated hardware they’ll be running on. The first title to be supported by the initiative is Crimson Skies, with other titles to come down the line.

This feature will arrive later this year for Xbox One users. Microsoft will likely preview backward compatibility for Xbox games with Insiders before it’s release. We’ll let you know if this comes to pass.
