Accidentally leaked by the company itself, Apple will be releasing a new ‘Files’ app to iOS devices during today’s WWDC 2017 keynote. The app was first reported by Steve T-S on Twitter which leaked via the App Store and is viewable here.
Ideally, the new Files app for iOS will allow users to access documents, ZIP files, pictures, and more natively on their device without the need to download a third-party service to do so. Apple’s file system in iOS has famously been locked down due to the company not believing most users would benefit from it. But thanks to the introduction of the iPad Pro and the fact that users tend to use their phones nowadays for more than just texting, it’s time for Apple to lift at least some of their restrictions, beginning with the inability to access files properly.
Apple’s WWDC keynote kicks off today at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET so stay tuned to MBEDDED for the latest.
