After releasing the phones first to carriers, Samsung has officially announced the launch of preorders for the unlocked variants of the Galaxy S8 and S8+. The handsets are available from both Samsung.com and Best Buy, while their official launch date is scheduled for May 31st.
Right now, you can preorder the Galaxy S8 with 64GB of storage for $724.99, while the Galaxy S8+ will run you $824.99 for the same amount of space. Both options are exclusively available in Midnight Black. The same Entertainment Kit bundle recently introduced also applies to preorders of the handsets until May 16th, with Samsung estimating ship dates for these accessory extras for this July.
With an unlocked smartphone, you won’t get any carrier bloatware or extras that you otherwise wouldn’t want. We’re currently reviewing the AT&T Galaxy S8, and we have to say, we really wish it were an unlocked model. I mean, just look at all of this bloatware.
If you grab an unlocked model, you won’t get any of this whatsoever. You can also bring the smartphone to any carrier (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile) and switch without having to give up your device.
The Galaxy S8 and S8+ feature 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Infinity Displays, Snapdragon 835 processors, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, Android Nougat, 3,000mAh and 3,500mAh batteries respectively, and 12MP rear cameras.
