Spotify Makes it Easier to Share Music with Codes

Spotify has begun rolling out a new way to share music with your friends. It’s similar to what Messenger, Snapchat, and Twitter are doing to connect users with others. It’s called Spotify Codes, and it allows users to scan special QR-like codes with their camera in order to access songs, albums, and playlists instantly.

To use the feature, open up the Spotify app on your phone, tap Search, and finally locate the camera icon in the search bar. Just tap this toggle and it’ll open your camera so you can begin scanning Spotify Codes. To view a Spotify Code, tap the three-dot menu icon while in the player interface.

Scanning Spotify Codes is a very snappy process as it takes no more than a split second to identify a code. You also don’t have to take a photo of a code if you don’t want to, but you can if you’d like to save it for later scanning.

Most users can expect the feature to roll out to those on the latest versions of the Spotify app for iOS and Android. Codes aren’t rolling out to desktop users yet, but they may at some point in the future.
