Those in Korea with a Galaxy S8 in their hand can expect Samsung’s Bixby voice functionality soon. As per ZDNet, the Korea-based technology giant has begun seeding these particular users with the feature after Samsung originally stated voice control with Bixby wouldn’t launch until “later this spring.” Luckily, it looks like they didn’t bother wasting time.
At launch, users of the S8 had access to Bixby Home, Reminders, and Vision. But unfortunately, these functions didn’t prove all that useful amongst early testers. Hopefully, Bixby Voice – something that Samsung says can perform any function you’d normally have to execute using touch input – will prove to give Bixby actual usefulness and won’t make using the hardware key all that bad.
Most of you are probably reading this story in the U.S. Luckily, Samsung has you covered. According to ZDNet, the company plans to release Bixby Voice to S8 and S8+ users in the States this month as well, There’s no strict timeframe for when it could actually land, but at least we know it’s coming relatively soon.
Currently, there’s no word on when Bixby’s voice functionality could launch in other territories.
