Target to Give More Than 650 Stores a Mario Kart Makeover

Target announced this week that they plan to give more than 650 of their retail stores a Mario Kart makeover. This comes as the outlet celebrates the upcoming release of the Nintendo Switch title Mario Kart 8 which is scheduled for launch on April 28th.

Specifically, Target will transform their shopping carts into “Super Target Karts” with design cues taken from Mario, Luigi, and Peach. A starting line behind the glass sliding doors will greet you when you walk in, while Super Mario sounds and lights begin flashing when you enter. Target’s famous red balls in the front of their stores will also receive the new design, with the heads of Mario and Luigi covering their entire round shape.

Mind you, this isn’t the first time Target has done a promotion like this. Just last year, they transformed their famous red balls into Pokémon balls to celebrate the launch of Pokémon GO.

Some (or most, by now) Target stores should already have the new Mario-themed design, with all stores scheduled for a promotional facelift to receive it by the end of this week. The new design will only be up for the next few weeks, so you may wanna swing by and see what’s good soon.

Just don’t go into the produce section. You may slip on a banana peel.
