Chinese manufacturers seem to always find a way to jam in the most high-end specs for the lowest possible price. Xiaomi is no exception, as the company today announced it’s newest smartphone called the Mi 6. It’s the successor to last year’s Mi 5 and packs in a lot of heat for not a lot of cash.
For starters, you’re getting a 5.15-inch display with a dual 12MP rear camera setup that mimicks that of the iPhone 7 Plus. Inside sits a Snapdragon 835 chipset (a processor we’ve only seen in two other phones: the Galaxy S8 and Sony Xperia XZ Premium), a massive 6GB of RAM, 64 or 128GB of storage, and a 3350mAh battery. All in all, these specs belong inside a smartphone that should cost somewhere in the ballpark of $700, but that isn’t the case at all.
Xiaomi’s Mi 6 starts at just 2499 yuan (around $360 USD) with 64GB of storage. That’s seriously low for what you’re getting inside this glass-covered smartphone. For 128GB of storage, you’ll be paying 2899 yuan (roughly $220 USD) which is still really. Finally, a special ceramic edition with 128GB of space will be sold for just 2999 yuan (around $435 USD). Mind you, the Mi 6 won’t be sold outside of India and China, but it’s still a bargain nevertheless.
