There’s no doubt that Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is plain beautiful. With it’s curved glass , near bezel-less Infinity Display and glossy looks, you’ll probably be stunned when you see the handset in real life. This is about to change, however, as Samsung’s reportedly developing an ultra-rugged version of the handset according to SamMobile.
In the report, SamMobile says Samsung is currently developing a Galaxy S8 Active. Samsung has introduced Active variantes of their flagship devices before, so it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see the Galaxy S8 fall on the same line. Usually, military-grade shock resistance is present on Active smartphones alongside improved water and dust resistance. It’s unclear what Samsung will change about the S8’s design, however. They may or may not get rid of the curves along the sides of the display, while minimal bezels aren’t promised either. Active smartphones are usually released in June, so I guess we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out.
For reference, the S8 Active’s alleged codename is “Cruiser.” That sounds fun.
