Samsung’s cameras on their Galaxy S smartphones have always remained on top of the spectrum for what you could ask from a device of their nature. Now, according to NAVER, things are about to be taken to a new level…
According to the report, Samsung will include a rear camera on the Galaxy S8 capable of shooting video at 1000 frames per second. This is absolutely staggering as normally, phones can shoot up to 60 frames per second. It’s unclear what exactly Samsung would use this function for, but your slow-mo video will look buttery smooth nevertheless.
So how would you go about building a camera capable of shooting 1000 frames per second? Details are rather skimpy, but Samsung has allegedly built DRAM right into the sensor, therefore granting it the ability to take more pictures faster. So in the time it takes you to bite into that Pat’s cheese steak, your phone will have shot 1000 photos.
Dang.
In addition, a new 8MP camera will be included on the front of the S8 which will feature autofocusing, a feature that’ll probably wind up pretty useful for selfie takers and social media bloggers. But obviously, this isn’t as impressive of 1000 frames per second. Not at all.
