Google Assistant Isn’t Rolling Out to Tablets… Yet

Remember when Google announced the Assistant would begin rolling out to Android Marshmallow and Nougat devices? Yeah, that doesn’t include tablets.

According to a statement given to Android Police, Google’s initial roll out of the once-Pixel-exclusive voice bot is only for phones, not tablets. This may be rather disappointing to hear for some (myself included), but stop holding down your home button hoping to see the “New!” Google Assistant message pop up.

Here’s the statement in its entirety.

The Assistant will be available on Android Marshmallow and Nougat phones with Google Play Services, this does not include tablets.

Nowhere in this statement does Google shut down the possibility of Assistant for tablets. Android Police said they asked further whether the company had a timeline for when the software may reach bigger Android devices, but they simply declined to comment. Therefore, there may still be hope. We might just have to wait a while. You know, like we did for Assistant to actually reach another device other than the Pixels.
