Apple’s 10.5-inch iPad Will Be Unveiled Next Month

We know pretty well at this point that Apple’s planning to introduce a fourth iPad to their lineup with a near-bezel-less 10.5-inch display, digital home button, and form factor similar to that of a 9.7-inch iPad. While we may know plenty of details, an exact announcement date or release timeframe has yet to be unveiled. However, in a new Digitimes report, we receive clarification that this new tablet will be announced in early April at a press event.

Apple has moved ahead the production for its planned new 10.5-inch iPad to March instead of an earlier timetable set for May-June and is expected to unveil the new iPad at a product event to be held in early April to mark the inauguration of Apple’s new headquarters in California, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.

Alongside this new model, Apple’s also expected to introduce mandatory updates to the 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros, likely with new processors and fresh software.

Digitimes says the new iPads may be unveiled during an early April event at the recently introduced Steve Jobs Theater. This is the least likely of rumors in this report, however, as Apple clearly states in their announcement the new auditorium won’t open until “later this year.” Therefore, a third-party venue will likely be used in the mean time, with the new iPhones in September possibly taking the stage at the company’s founder-named theater.

There’s not exactly any clarification as to when we can expect production of the new 10.5-inch iPad to begin, but some rumors point towards a May-June delay after announcement, therefore leaving interested buyers out in the cold until late spring-early summer. There isn’t much more information to base any guesses, so take this with a grain of salt.

With an event rumored to take place in April, Apple will be breaking their recently formed tradition of holding Spring keynotes in March. A delayed production time is likely the reasoning behind this change, but Apple will nevertheless make 2017 much more different from years past in terms of product launches.
