Apple’s Upcoming Flagship iPhone May Finally Have a Name

Apple’s expected to introduce three new iPhones this year: the iPhone 7s, the iPhone 7s Plus, and a special 10th-anniversary model people are calling the iPhone 8 for lack of a better name. Whelp, it looks like as usual, we have to wait for an eve-numbered year to roll around for the next-generation iPhone as a fresh report out of Japan indicates the 5.8-ich iPhone expected this September will be called ‘iPhone Edition.’

The article explains last year’s report of a new 5-inch model which has since then evolved into a 5.8-inch iPhone with dual cameras, with the author noting the phone may very well be called the iPhone Edition, the premium of the three 2017 variants.

Last year we published the article about additional iPhone 7s & iPhone 7s Plus model and the article about the 5 inch model equipped with the iSight Duo camera, but this 5 inch model would highly possibly be the “iPhone Edition” which is the premium model.

The report also notes that Apple’s been testing multiple models of this new iPhone, with elements such as a home button, an LCD screen, and ceramic, three characteristics that are likely not going to make it to this new iPhone. Of course, we can’t say for certain it won’t happen, but don’t place your bets yet.

It’s also said the iPhone Edition will be delayed for a while, at least until the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus hit the shelves. This is likely due to the manufacturing of the new technologies Apple’s introducing in this case such as an embedded fingerprint reader in the screen, wireless charging, and the OLED displays which may take a bit longer than normal. If so, it’s unclear when the Edition will ever be met by consumer’s wallets, so sit tight and enjoy the ride.

Nevertheless, at least we now have a better name to call this mysterious new iPhone. I never really bought the whole iPhone 8 thing and find iPhone Edition a bit more likely. But what’s your opinion? Leave a comment below.
