Back in November, Moto and Verizon finally began seeding customers with Android 7.0 Nougat for the Moto Z and Z Force. It was unclear when the youngest of the trio, the Z Play, would get the same update, but according to Verizon, Nougat is now headed to the handset we called an absolute battery beast.
Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a new software update for your Moto Z Play Droid Edition. Android™ 7.0 Nougat improves your mobile experience with new battery-smart features and multitasking enhancements.
As you can see in the screenshots above, the Z Play will be getting all the standard Nougat stuff like multitasking, Doze on the Go (a feature that’s probably not necessary for this particular smartphone), better notification management, and easier-to-navigate Settings. Its software looks identical to that of the standard Z and Z Force, while optimizations for better performance and battery life are likely still in place.
Build number NDNS25.137-24-1-2 is the one being rolled out to Z Play Droid users on Verizon’s network, while unlocked users have yet to receive the new software. If you wanna see if you have the update yet, head over to Settings > About phone > System updates. Be sure to plug in your phone and jump on a Wi-Fi network before downloading and installing. You may regret it otherwise.
