Great news for those of you with an unlocked HTC One A9: Mo Versi, the vice president of product management at HTC, has announced that this particular handset was just technically approved and is ready to receive Android Nougat starting tonight. It’s unclear what version number (7.0 or 7.1.1) users will receive, but we’ll update this article when we hear more.
HTC One A9 Unlocked Owners! We have received technical approval on the Nougat OS update, and OTA will begin tonight!

Interestingly, as announced earlier last year, HTC promised users of the A9 that Nougat would roll out to their device within 15 days of Google’s Nexus device getting the new software. As noted by 9to5Google, it’s been 150 days since that day passed, so you can see how ambitious HTC was being back when they said this.
Still, it’s better late than never to receive a major software update like Android Nougat. Owners of the One A9 can expect the OTA to hit their device starting tonight so be sure to keep an eye out for it. Do note that if you bought your phoen at a carrier, you won’t be receiving Nougat today as it’s only rolling out to unlocked users for now.
