Dell’s XPS 13 Hybrid is Official As the “World’s Smallest 13-inch 2-in-1”

Yesterday, word leaked that Dell would be introducing a new 2-in-1 as an upgrade to the company’s successful XPS 13 laptop. As per a formal announcement today, we now have word that this laptop-tablet hybrid is official and is dubbed the “world’s smallest 13-inch 2-in-1 with battery life up to 15 hours.”

And just when you thought everyone’s favorite laptop couldn’t get better, we’ve introduced the new XPS 13 2-in-1 to our portfolio, adding more flexibility and improvements making it even thinner, sleeker and fitting it with a 360-degree hinge to enable greater productivity and offer multiple viewing options.

As is the case with most 2-in-1s, Dell’s XPS 13 2-in-1 features a 360 degree hinge for flipping the device into a laptop or tablet at one’s convenience. The display on the hybrid is sized at 13 inches (as per its name) and is considered one of Dell’s Infinity Displays since the bezels separating the screen from the edge are extremely thin. In addition, a QHD+ (3200×1800) resolution is available with HDR capabilities, so for those of you who need extra pixels, you have the option.

Inside, Dell packs Intel’s Kaby Lake processors, 1TB of storage, and up to 16GB of RAM. These are the same specs featured in last year’s refresh of the XPS 13. And of course, Dell claims up to 15 hours of use can be squeezed out of this guy on a single charge, but only real world use will determine whether this is true or not.

Dell wil begin selling the XPS 13 2-in-1 via their own online store and Best Buy in the US Thursday, January 5th, starting at $999. There’s currently no word on when other regions can expect the laptop/tablet hybrid, so stay tuned.

In addition, Dell also introduced a new monitor called the Dell 27 Ultrathin Monitor with a 1440p resolution (2560×1440), an ultra-thin profile (hence the name), better color reproduction thanks to the company’s HDR technology, USB-C connectivity, and a “flicker-free” promise. The accessory will be available starting this March for $699 in the US with worldwide availability arriving soon after.
