Android Nougat is Now Rolling Out to the OnePlus 3 and 3T

Back in November, it was announced that the OnePlus 3 would eventually receive an update to Android 7.0 Nougat thanks to OxygenOS 4.0 by the end of this year. It wasn’t known when this time would come, but my guess was literally December 31st. Hey, guess what? I was right.

As per a tweet from OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, we now have word that a rollout of the stable releases of Nougat for the OnePlus 3 and 3T will begin tonight. What’s more, in a forums post, OnePlus has announced and released the first beta build of Nougat for the 3T, something extremely odd to release since the stable version of the software will begin rolling out in just hours from now.

In case you’re wondering, here’s the release notes for Nougat on the OnePlus 3 and 3T.

  • Upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat
    • New Notifications Design
    • New Settings Menu Design
    • Multi-Window View
    • Notification Direct Reply
    • Custom DPI Support
  • Added Status Bar Icon Options
  • Improved Shelf Customization

Interestingly, OnePlus was in such a rush to deliver their promise of Nougat on their latest handsets before 2016 was over that most of their staff couldn’t even take off to celebrate New Year’s Eve.

In conclusion, Pei goes on to say that OnePlus will come back “stronger” in 2017. Take that as you will.

Let us know in the comments when you get Nougat on your 3 or 3T. The official rollout will start tonight, probably at 11:59PM.
