At Apple’s October event, the company unveiled that Microsoft was working to bring Minecraft, that crazy building block-based video game all the kids are playing nowadays, to the Apple TV, however it wasn’t known when this time would come. Now, via a press release on Minecraft.net, we have confirmation that the game, titled Minecraft: Apple TV Edition, is available for download.
Do you own one of those fancy Apple TV devices? Maybe Santa has his elves cooking one up in their high-tech workshop?
If either of those are true, I bring good news! We’ve just released Minecraft for the slim black boxes.
For those wondering, you get seven pieces of DLC on the house for a limited time. You also have access to the Holiday 2015, Town Folk, and City Folk skin packs, while Plastic, Natural, Cartoon, and Festive 2016 mash-ups are also available. Currently, neither Xbox Live or Realms are supported, but the developers say they’re working to bring these features in upcoming updates.
As of now, Minecraft: Apple TV Edition is rolling out “to all regions,” while the cost of the game is $19.99. Some of you may not be willing to pay this much for a silly game since you’ve probably already spent at least $7 for your little one (or yourself, no judgment here) to play the game to their (your) heart’s content on an iPhone or iPad. Unfortunately, there’s no way around this, so in total, you’ll be spending $27 on Minecraft for the Apple ecosystem alone.
